The Heist of Hyderabad: England’s Legendary Comeback!

There’s test match wins, and then there’s test match WINS.

If you’ve somehow been living under a rock over the last few days, this weekend saw an incredible performance by England in their first test against India – overturning a 190 run deficit after the first innings to win by 28.

England had only come back from such a deficit just twice before in their entire history, and India had never lost a test match previously when leading by at least 100 runs after the first innings.

To make it even more impressive, India had only lost three of their previous 46 home test matches, and England managed to make it 4 from the last 47 with a slightly inexperienced side, including missing Jack Leach who was suffering from a knee injury.

Having fallen so far behind halfway through the game, England stunned India and left them on the ropes following Ollie Pope’s 196 runs and with Tom Hartley getting nine wickets on his debut too, India just couldn’t get the runs they needed – leaving England with a massive victory to kick off the series.
